Meeting Demands of food Industry/ Sustaining a Global Brand with Smarter Infrastructure

QSR – Interior Fit-Out
Burger king

Burger King is one of the world’s largest and most recognized quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands, with over 19,000 locations across more than 100 countries. Known for its flame-grilled burgers and iconic Whopper, Burger King locations require seamless integration of infrastructure to support high-volume operations, customer comfort, and brand consistency.

Every new build demands precision and performance — especially when it comes to MEP systems that support safety, speed, and efficiency.

Project Overview

DEC proudly provided comprehensive MEP engineering design services for the new Burger King located in Junction, Texas. As a nationally recognized firm specializing in MEP systems for commercial and food-service facilities, we delivered high-performance building systems that meet the fast-paced demands of a quick-service restaurant environment.

Our scope included mechanical, electrical, and plumbing solutions designed for efficiency, compliance, and long-term reliability. From the kitchen and dining areas to the drive-thru and back-of-house operations, our systems help ensure a smooth and consistent customer experience.

The Junction, TX Burger King now operates on robust, energy-efficient MEP infrastructure — a reflection of our commitment to technical excellence, on-time delivery, and cost-effective engineering.

MEP Design Scope

Our work on this Burger King project included the design and integration of the following systems:

Mechanical (HVAC) Design
Custom ventilation and climate control systems for both kitchen and dining areas, tailored to Texas weather conditions and high kitchen equipment heat loads.

Electrical Design
Full electrical layouts including power distribution, energy-efficient lighting (LED), kitchen equipment power coordination, and infrastructure for drive-thru systems and POS.

Plumbing Design
Design of hot/cold water supply, grease waste management, and code-compliant drainage systems to support commercial kitchen and restroom facilities.

We worked collaboratively with the architect, general contractor, and Burger King’s franchise team to ensure every system met the brand’s exacting standards, all local building codes, and energy efficiency objectives.

Project Challenges & Solutions

Every site has unique requirements. For this project, our team addressed: systems:

  • Extreme Texas Heat
We implemented zoned HVAC systems with energy-efficient rooftop units to ensure thermal comfort while minimizing energy costs — crucial in Junction’s hot climate.

  • Tight Kitchen Coordination
Our MEP layout was closely aligned with Burger King’s standardized kitchen equipment and workflow, allowing for optimal space use and operational efficiency. Tight Kitchen Coordination

  • Drive-Thru Technology Integration
Electrical systems were future-proofed for modern QSR needs — including integration with drive-thru communications, digital signage, order tracking, and POS systems.

We worked collaboratively with the architect, general contractor, and Burger King’s franchise team to ensure every system met the brand’s exacting standards, all local building codes, and energy efficiency objectives.
